You could always just get small self locking nuts and small machine screws. That is what I did and I am not certain why. I think I was anticipating being able to remove and repaint them. I rattle can sprayed those parts. They still seem fine so no need to remove them yet. In addition to that, I was anticipating splitting the turtle deck as many have done. Haven't felt the need to do that yet either.
