The Timberfox flies for the first time!

All went good on the first flight. Only issue I found was my airspeed was off. (indicating 10-20mph faster) After some troubleshooting I found that my static ports were the culprit. I had them placed right behind the doors. After unplugging the static line so it just read cabin static, the problem went away. I always thought indicated airspeed was independent of static pressure but looks like that is not the case!

The Garmin G3X is incredible, being able to pull logs to look at data is so much nicer than trying to write everything down while monitoring everything while flying. 10/10

4 flights in with a million more to go. I am having a problem with the engine leaking fuel out the vent tubes/carbs (all you fuel injected guys are probably smiling right now). Thanks Larry Olson for the assistance in troubleshooting!

As of right now, with me and half tanks (1050#) I am 35.5mph indicated in slow flight (full flaps) and 115 indicated at 5200 RPM. I am very pleased with these numbers.

As others have mentioned on the forum, this plane does not want to land! Trying to get it to slow down in the pattern and final is not like a cub!

Overall, this has been a blast thus far. Thanks to everyone on these forums for posting build logs and asking the questions I was to scared to ask! ha
Special thanks to Harlan and TJhj for letting me fly with them and letting me bug them with questions!

    Congrats!

Flying something that you built.....almost an indescribable feeling!

A paper fuel filter hooked up to the static system under the panel works perfect and keeps the bugs out.

Ditto for the static under the panel.

    Congratulations on your 1st flight!

Great to finally see your post!
I am very happy to see you in the air. Your numbers look to be great, and I am envious of your low stall number.
That is better than any STi wing I have heard and you have the top speed too!
Your plane looks great, and I can't wait to see it in person.

Thank you all for the comments! It is strange transitioning from builder to pilot!

I should make a correction, my slow flight was at 35.5 but my power off stall is at 38 (tested at 1100#). My empty weight came in at 792#.

Thanks Harlan for all the help! I look forward to flying off the riverbars with you!

In regards to the leaking carbs, check out the tuning your 912 thread in engines. We fought this issue for months and my plane as well as many others that provided feedback ended up just needing a few small adjustments and that problem went away. Well worth the time spent. Tuning alongside a one inch crossover upgrade got me a few hundred extra rpm and an idle down in the 1400 without shaking
