    Default Filter without airbox?

As the title says, do you think it's reasonably possible to run something like a conical KN filter without an airbox? Ill have the Edge EP912STI which is both fuel injected and turbo'd.

Up here in Canada alternate air is required which obviously eats up valuable space; another member has shown me his ingenious solution, but I'm wondering if it can be done lighter by skipping the airbox altogether.

Obviously you'll get some warm air from inside the cowling, but I figure with a wisely positioned naca duct or two, it might not be too big of a deal. What do the experts think?
