It amazes me how different sandbars can be. I only have a couple hundred more to check out!

Farmfox is back in the shop for the annual condition inspection.
I am installing a backup battery I guess you would call it.
I'm putting another master solenoid and 3.8lb earthx battery in for a backup. It will have the capability to start the plane on top of back things up.
I had never really seen the need for a backup battery but with the out of the way places I go to, usually by myself, I'm thinking I'd like to have a backup.
It's about a 5lb addon behind the baggage compartment, but I carry 15 on the tail so I'm guessing I'll remove 3 off the tail so I'm not adding much weight.
It will attach to the existing wiring except for the gd wire that goes to master2 solenoid switch.

It was a lot easier wiring the first time then it is now!

Never a bad idea to have a backup where you're out and about. Worst feeling in the world is having an issue that you thought long and hard about but did nothing while knowing you could have easily done something and not lost any available load in doing it. I will admit Harlan I was a bit disappointed to see you sucummed to the need to upgrade your seating. Is that the new Kitfox 2x4 recliner?

Did you ever do anything different with a heating solution? I think you mentioned a draft from the back.

    I have not.
I bought heated seats pads that make it nice but still have the rear draft.
I do have that on my list to try to tighten up the cab drafts. It seems a lot is coming around the flaperon rod entrances as I was checking the last flight at 20 degrees. That is what I am going to work on first.

Harlan, Just a suggestion, I carry an EarthX emergency charge pack. It is strong enough to do several starts on the Rotax and can be easily attached with the cable clamps that come with it; no permanent wiring or extra weight or components.

Jim I didn't know they made one. That would have been a good option and good for other uses too. thanks.

EarthX is great IMHO. Im replacing my first battery after 600hrs and five years of use. Just last month I ran that battery dead by leaving my panel on too long during an update on the Garmin stuff while I did other stuff in the hangar. I used my EarthX jump pack to start it. Worked beautifully. I had the lead already installed so I just hooked the jump pack to the lead right inside the oil door. Simple . After that, I started to experience my G3x shut down on engine start from time to time. I now turn my backup battery on during engine start. I just received a fresh EarthX yesterday. EarthX customer service is great as well so I figured I could give them props here while I had the opportunity.
