    Default Idaho trip

    Hey folks,
Planning my annual back-country trip to Idaho and want to visit an area new to us in my C-180. Want to poke around the Owyhee area for a coupla days before heading back into the Frank Church. Looking for more info than can be gleaned from a sectional.
    Tips?
    Recommendations?

    thx,
    jon

btw... I’d LOVE to fly my Kitfox out there but the commute from Massachusetts would be too much to handle.

We will probably be up in the Cabin Creek, Soldier Bar, Flyin B area that week with stops into Johnson Creek to check on the outside world via interwebs.

[Jon where are your starting from?

I want to do that but don't want to fly alone. I thought about following the RAF strips most of the way.

Weather permitting we’ll leave from Tampa on or about the 6th make a bee-line towards Boise. Want to check out the Owyhee but still looking for info on the area.

[Sounds like nice ride. Have you flown out west before. You could look at the RAF website the have some strips out there.

Its a great trip! We’ve been going out that way for the last five years for a couple weeks in July. No real itinerary or hard destinations until we get there and conditions dictate. My first trip out was with four other planes of various speed and capabilities. It’s much easier to travel solo or with similarly performing aircraft. I do think it would be a hoot in a Kitfox just not MY Kitfox. It’s lots of fun to trade legs and revel in the sights with a co-captain. (And the autopilot helps!)

Hopefully one day I will get it done that and Alaska. My kitfox has auto pilot which was nice when we flew it home from NM. .
There any many you tubes about flying in Idaho maybe you can get some ideas from there. Look at the ones from Bryan Bowen .
