Default Rotax 582 slightly oilleak out of carb.

    Hi,

till a few months, I recognze a slight leak of oil at my right carburator (rear), before flight.
Immediately after fligh nothing happens or seen.
It flows out of the carb inside the airfilter. Rotax 582 with oilpump, any ideas or experiences?

I’ve had the same on mine. I believe the banjo fitting on the oil injection lines from the pump has a check ball inside it that can get stuck, allowing oil to flow when it’s shut down.

    Olif,
I also have an oil pump however I've not seen a oil leak from the carb. I'll be checking a little closer. it's good to know there may be a check ball inside the oil line.

    Thanks,

Anybody disassemble the oilpump and knows what is inside?

Essentially it is a rotating piston with ramps on its skirt. The position of the oil supply arm Limits how far the piston returns as it rotates, this variable action determines the amount of oil delivered.this is a brilliant piece of engineering by mikuni,Mazda rotary engines use a near identical unit.

    Olle,
This can only be a result of the check valve leaking. There is no other place the oil would come from. Either remove and service it or replace it. Rotax part number is 956 010.

I just purchased the supplies to renew the oil injection lines on mine, so I will soon be removing them to see if I can stop my leak.

Thank you but what about the oilpump itself, the "dose-arm" may be, it controls the flow?

I think, the valves control the flow-direction (I have a directionmark on it - little arrow) only and not the flow itself!?

    What do you think?

I think the only purpose of the check valves is to stop the flow of oil when the engine is not running. The control arm adjusts how much oil is pumped depending on throttle position but cannot shut off the flow of oil.

    Hi at all,

last week I changed my oilpump and used the old checkvalves.
    I had a checkflight for round about 2 hrs with 3 starts/landings.
It's possibe to watch a small part of these flights at my latest video.

The result till now , everything works, dry airfilter....no leaks recognizable.

I will open the old oilump and will check what happens, perhaps I upload a Video.

    Thanks!
