I registered my first homebuilt quite a few years before it flew. The state contacted me, and I told them it was still a project, being constructed from parts and raw material, and I never heard from them again. This is Colorado. Sometime after that, our tax law was changed, making airplane parts non-taxable.

Fuselage painted today! I will let it harden for a couple days then paint the stripe down the side.
The plan is to move it back to the hangar next weekend and start the final assembly!

You're now getting to the excitement stage; i.e. painting and final assembly. I'm almost there myself. Great work and looking forward to seeing some photos of the finished paint scheme.

Looks great! I'm jealous of your paint booth setup. If kill for that.

Yes, my "paint booth" is nothing as classy as yours Jeff. Even the term "shoe string budget" is a stretch for mine .....

It’s not my paint booth! We have 3 possibly 5 ongoing projects so a few of us pitched into build this booth. Structure is 1” EMT conduit with heavy visclean draped over it and sealed with lots of duct tape! Ventilation is a whole house fan. Works pretty good. Is 16’x32’x8’.
Wish we had a down draft system...

That pretty much sums up everything about space and tools. No matter what you have, you could always use a little more.

Got the fuse back to the hangar today and back on the gear. Special thanks to Meyer, Eric, and Alan!
