Talking Re: Dual STI build log

So I was in FL for a couple days for work, and was able to find a guy who wanted to fly!

It was a little rushed because work schedule changed but I was able to get my tail-wheel endorsement!

Finish tape is all complete and tail is installed for hopefully the last time. When we did the oratex we covered the tail using the envelope and started with the bottom and fished with the top wrapping around to the bottom. We opted to finish tape the bottom on the seem so finish tape is not visible from the top.

Installed the center console after wrapping it and was not happy with the recessed rivets, not being so recessed. Tore it off and started over.

Body filled the rivets and sanded smooth. Look's much better now. Also got the tail-wheel lock installed. Not a fan of the red handle, can change that later.

Here is a shot of the new T3 version 2 and how I ran the cable for the tail-lock.

    Fancy Tailwheel!

The snow has been deep so we have been a little distracted!

Not to bring up an only topic but I was looking back at your very clean pitot tubing routing in the wing and wondering how you attached the Tyson tubing to the ribs? Superglue by chance? Id like to try and mimic your install. Thanks!

Yes with medium CA. Then I got nervous on some of them vibrating and falling off so I went back and glued on with some hysol. Mainly the ones on the end of the spars.

Getting ready to run hard fuel lines from header tank. What is the recommend flaring tool to use? Does this one work?

Unfortunately no. You need 37°, not 45°.

Ah! Thanks! I was just reading through the instructions and noticed that. Next question is I am also working on installing the panel. I borrowed a rivet squeezer for the flapeorons. For the panel do I just need to buy a bucking bar? Any tips?

Yes, the kit comes with Waaaay to many solid rivets. You only use a few, maybe a few more if you use them on the flaperon trailing edges.

Okay back working on the STI's! Getting the avionics ordered. Quick questions on what everyone knows. Sorry I have just started reading the G3X manual but I am trying to get an order in quick to get stuff coming.
Here is what we are doing. Amazing the avionics sales guys don't know this stuff. But my question is if we do the gtx45r I need a GPS antenna (GA35) and a WAAS receiver (GPS20A) to feed the GTX45r correct?

Do I need a gps receiver/antenna for the G3X also?

    GTR20 Remote comm
    Vertical power sport
    GEA 24 EIS
    GTX45R
    GA35 WASSGPS antenna
    GPS20A
(We are doing all remote mount to try and keep the CG back with the added weight of a turbo and intercooler and upgraded alternator)

Obviously there is a bunch more connectors and install kits and senors, I just outlined the major components.

You can squeeze those. If you don't have a rivet squeezer you can buy one starting about $80. But some have used vice grips.
