Friday AM, got in the air at sunrise from KWHP, pit stopped at L22 (Yucca Valley), got a great view of Joshua Tree NP in winter, and arrival at Buckeye was smooth and uneventful. Nice tail wind most of the way. Didn't look like but one Flying Cowboy made it in. Headed over to KGYR, where we had a room in town, for the evening. Loud planes were the Pitt Special and eZ 300 were doing the airshow thing, along with the Yak 110 with both prop and jet power. My ears were ringing for a while after that.

Headed out about 9 am Saturday from KGYR on a 270 heading, Quartzsite campers in their RV were still everywhere around town. Things were nice until we got to near Palm Springs. Fueled the RV-12 up at Bermuda Dunes, and got walled in by clouds, top to bottom at Banning Pass to the west, where we needed to go. Had to divert north over the high desert through broken clouds to blue sky to continue west again. Moderate turbulence with head winds constant 20 to up to 35 kts. It was a very bumpy, bouncy rough ride back home from Bermuda Dunes. Being in a LSA has it's limits. Glad we headed back home early on Saturday. The glass on the Dynon 1000 looked like a Pinball game flying north of Buckeye on Saturday morning, lots of aircraft in the vicinity and orbiting.

You gotta love flying to get bounced, spun and a few attempted unwanted wing waves, for 2 out of 3.5 hours flying into the wind, trying to get home. No glassy air in the cloud cover flying back home on Saturday. Felt a bit beat up after that flight. Slow going, not by choice. There was a tiny trailer there that made absolutely killer good fantastic burritos at the show... I ordered the version with bacon, it was delicious.

Glad you had a good time with exception of the bumpy flight home. Jason Sneed of the Flying Cowboys was there for a while on Friday with his red/white Carbon Cub. All the northern contingency could not get down likely due to weather and work conflicts. Patey brothers also had other commitments. Hope they can get down for the Flying Circus in a week or so.

Flying Circus is an anual event south of Goodyear, AZ. Jason Sneed has a video of the Flying Cowboys last year. The strip was built by friends quite a few years ago. It was called Big Tanks when the strip was put in originally. Now the present owners named it MoTown. It is on the sectional maps. We used to fly our Kitfox group in there alot. Now it is predominately an ultralight field.
