Thread: Gap at the main gear attach fittings

  1. #1

Default Gap at the main gear attach fittings

I had the fuselage tipped at the right angle when I noticed that the reinforcing plate at each of the four main gear attach points has a gap between the tube and the plate. Has anyone else noticed this? I would think that would be a great place for moisture to collect and corrode. Should I try to seal it or does the covering process accomplish this with Poly-Tac or something?
    Thanks

I would seal it up with Hysol.

Agree with Jim 100%. At least on the old S7 build manuals I believe there there was a general instruction to seal up any unprotected voids with hysol.

^ What they said. It's in one of the very first chapters in the manual where it talks about inspecting your fuselage welds before you begin building.

Yeah, I remember that from the manual. Just went back to refresh my memory and that particular spot is called out! Duh! I'd found so many other spots I had to seal that I thought I'd found them all by now!

    Thanks everyone.
