I don't have the problem... what I did is allow very slightly more clearance between the S.S. detent assemblies, and I made sure my pivot "bearing" was tight but very smooth, with carefully selected washers to eliminate any sideways play. I had started out making a new copy of the tunnel top piece without the pedal adjusting slots, and then thought carefully about the spacing between those detent assemblies before cutting the opening for the handle. Just one of multiple reasons my project has taken so long, and one of the "hazards" of having been a strictly from blueprints scratch builder of an all-metal airplane (in my previous life).

Very nice work. What is the horizontal rocker switch for above the for/aft trim rocker?
I do like the finish on that console John. As usual, nice work.

I guess I wish I had known this is a problem before I riveted the detent plates in place, I'll see if I can work this out with a couple of washers.
Thanks,
Thanks for all the suggestions fellows. Problem solved tonight with the addition of washers and a bit of hand filing the slot opening. Nice and free, smooth operation.
