    Well guys installing a O 290 in a model V anyone out there done this??

    It is a 0-290 G Lycoming with a little bit of work inside

    You might want to do a google search on "O-290G crankshaft flange". Some say it is not suitable for an extension and a prop.
    ACS used to sell a flange stiffener but not any more. Some have gone to their local machine shop to have them made. Look around a bit and make sure you do it right. When the fan stops running the pilot starts to sweat... Not good!

    I have an O-290-D on mine so if you have any questions feel free. You do want to address the flange issue on the G engine. The extra weight can be addressed with sweeping the wings forward a bit. Overall it's a sweet set up, I love mine.

    We had a pilot land once with a rough running engine. (can't remember what kind of airplane?) but if I remember right, it was an O-290 ground power unit. The flange had holes, wasn't a solid flange. After looking things over, we discovered the flange was cracked between the wholes, actually I think it was cracked between 3 holes. It was enough that the prop was not tracking evenly and he was getting a vibration.

    Update the plane is a monster my buddy is putting floats on it right now . Oh and the flange was not issue had a custom build flange to fit.
