Do you have the latest firmware flash from Garmin loaded on your G3X? Load it on a usb 3.0 flash stick memory... https://www8.garmin.com/support/coll...t=010-00G3X-00

I do have the current download for the G3X. That's another story. I worked for hours trying to use a 16GB Sandisk to do it. Instructions are to use "at least" 8GB SD card and little did I know most stores don't even carry a card with that little space any more. So I bought a 16GB SD card. What could possibly be the problem provided the card is big enough to hold the download right? WRONG. Spoke with Garmin Support after a dozen failed efforts and ultimately had to find an 8GB card before it worked.

I remember having the same problem 2 years ago. I also talked to Garmin and they said the 8GB is the biggest SD card that works in the G3X. I ended up getting a 2 pack from Amazon because I couldn't find them in any stores. I think they recommend just a few brands of SD cards as well.

Just discovered that my expensive WAAS GPS antenna that was sold to me for the transponder is not compatible with the G3X. Im fairly certain that as long as it is hooked up to the GTX345 xpndr it won't be a problem. The G3X manual states that, although not required, it is recommended that a compatible GPS antenna be used on at least one of the EFIS screens. So, I go onto the Aircraft Spruce site and I don't see any of the inexpensive GPS pucks that are listed as compatible. Can anyone here advise me as to what antenna they used in a G3X system?

The G3X Installation manual has a list of compatible antennas. The information is in chapter 23, and 23.2 lists the Garmin antennas that will work with the various G3X components.

I used a Garmin GA-26C and plugged into the back of my screen. This was my only GPS antenna in my system till last year when I added the GPS-20A & GA-35 WAAS antenna. I mounted the GA-26C behind the instrument panel under the fiberglass top and it works great.

The GA-26C is sold at ACS. FYI I think the GA-26 was included when with the G3X screen I bought.

Thank you Phil. I figured the manual would say what ones but I didn't find the right chapter I guess. As sometimes occurs, sales info doesn't get updated so because the G3X isn't listed as a compatible system with the Antenna you have in the ACS site I thought I would ask. Thanks for the quick reply.

It sounds to me like G3X can't address more than 8GB. Good to know...

Well, The xpndr is communicating again. I had changed a baud rate setting. Transponder still has "transponder fail" on its read out so I have to call Garmin tomorrow.

Well, it taxi's well. I put gas in and taxi'd around to burn the breaks in. Handled well, much like Stick N Rudders plane. Got a comment from the Tower about how good it looks. Hope it flies well. I have to remove my transponder to take it in to get a software update. Because I bought a certified transponder I have set myself up for having to take it in for updates since they won't give me access to the update unless I am a dealer. Interesting thing is, AS&S can update my experimental installation but if it were in a certified plane it would have to go to an avionics shop that deals Garmin equipment. Next step is balancing the prop with the Dyna Vibe. Instructions read easy enough. Next week.

Sounds great Eddie. Soon you'll be off terra firma and into the sky.

    All the best getting there!
