"Rocks two arrival". These little secret routes evade me. We have one of these here at KCNO. Are these just known to the locals or are these VFR routes published someplace? Be easy, remember, Im a rusty pilot.

VFR arrival/departure routes are published on the Terminal Area Chart (TAC)

"Rocks" is a reference to Red Rocks, West of N LV... I've mtn biked there before, it is quite the sight at daybreak, the colors are gorgeous, you want to fly by there low and slow, for sure, with the camera's rolling.

When you are about 5 south of Jean, NV (0L7), ask Las Vegas Approach for the "Rocks 2 Arrival for North Las Vegas"
I left KCNO at 9pm, arrived KVGT around midnight and asked approach for a flyover of the strip, on both in Bound and and hour later for outbound and they denied it.

I fly into KLAS all the time and there is a rush that happens around then. One hour earlier or later and you would have probably been fine.

That is the "unpublished" approach to VGT from the south that is known to locals as the "numbers approach to N. Las Vegas". They vector you north over Henderson Airport, continue north and fly directly over Las Vegas McCarran Airport runway number 26, continue north alongside "The Strip" toward the Stratosphere Resort and Casino, then direct to N. Las Vegas Airport. The pilot side view of The Strip is really nice. As you noted it is difficult to obtain this Class B clearance as ATC workload and winds are factors considered.

I was cleared into Bravo, had to stay to the West they said and come around to VGT. '

Could see the strip, looked great at night, the only time Vegas looks great, but denied me being to the strip side.

So, I have an abbreviated video of my Vegas trip. You will notice it jumps from the trip too Vegas then too the Saturday morning departure for home. Remember, I had Lane B lights in my face enroute to Vegas so any addtl video was unwarranted while I dealt with the issue. As a side note, I have flown an addtl five hours without another light coming on. I think I fixed it by reconnecting the plug there outside of Vegas. Dongle hook up on this Friday to verify. Not a great video but for those familiar with the route, reminisce. For those unfamiliar, check out our desert. Not a place I wish to have an ECU problem to say the least.

Did you fly straight there or fly I Fly Roads all the way along I-15?

Trip take 2 hours or less?

    Pretty easy on GPH rate?

Looks like fun, but hot that time of day.

GPS direct until ECU light. Diverted to highway until landing at Jean airport 30min south of Vegas. Less than 4gal per hour. 2.5 hour or less.
