35 miles to the nearest paved road. I understand that it takes 3 hours on the dirt road before reaching the springs.
We had wt issues for a flight that far and I definitely wanted to be light for the landing and departure. I had to leave my six pack of beer behind. I kinda messed up, by leaving that cooler behind I left half my water (in the form of ice) behind. I nearly had to use some water that people left behind in the Cache there at the airstrip. I guess the hot spring water source is Potable so people there were boiling it and making use of it. Fortunately we only needed the clothes on our backs since the hot springs are clothing optional. I didn't see any bathing suits on anyone in the pools so be prepared John. It was Saturday so there was no shortage of people. I can't haul firewood but I did take two small duraflame logs. I used only one and left the other behind in the cache. Those little logs (1.5hr burn) didnt disappoint either I must say. By time it burned out I was ready for the tent.

When you have 7.5 minutes you might enjoy some video of Chicken Strip in Death Valley. I apologize for the long segment about 1.5 minutes in. I sped it up but it isn't really perceivable that its fast but I couldn't seem to edit it out and lost the original footage from my laptop. I give up.

That is amazing desolate country. I'd love to fly there someday. Nice video.

Moments like this are the reason I built and fly a Kitfox. This was Memorial Day. The air was so calm, I just put in a standard rate turn and nearly let go of the controls for about ten turns while watching the sunset with the Girlfriend.

No better view of God's creation Eddie than from a Kitfox you built with your own hands......and money.
Happy to see the great return on investment. Enjoy every flight.

Take a 270 degree ride (1:15sec). This was Monday evening. I almost didn't go but as it turned out it was a memorable ride. 4000ft, 80mph, trimmed up, put the thing in a slow left turn and let go. For 9 turns as we watched the sunset, I only adjusted the throttle to change any altitude deviation which was very little.

Nice, and a job well done! That’s what a perfectly rigged airplane can do!
