Since I have Brian in suspense, I should post this. I was hoping to post Where I Fly Pics but I forgot my camera in the plane.
Anyhow, I felt that I had better not attempt such a long distance flight given the forecast weather upon my expected return through Vegas Sunday. Trying to keep this short but awhile back I had elevated oil temps on climb from Palm Springs with temps at about 90 degree OAT. I have blocked off the airflow beneath the radiators but I had not really officially taken it out to test in elevated temps again since the mod. Temperatures in Vegas on Sunday were expected to be 105-108 and I was going to be heavy after making the fuel stop there on my way home. On top of the temps, the Winds were going to be right off my nose at 20-25kts. That would have added a fair amount of time to the flight that was already 7+ hours. Cancel.
So, My son and I planned a flight into Vegas Friday morning before it was really hot. I was only staying over night so an early Saturday departure would have been fine. The Marine layer here kept us grounded until 1100 in the morning Friday. We departed then for Vegas. Yes, arriving there in the heat of the day but I was no longer loaded with camping gear. I was expecting I would be easy on the engine as I would be descending into the heat anyhow. It seems I have adequate airflow now as it turns out. However, I got a Lane B light about an hour outside of Vegas. I carry my engine book so I was following the instructions. Reset, Reset, Reset. Kept coming on. Very unpleasant experience. I did have the same light blink on me during phase 1 and I spoke with Brian at CPS (California Power Systems) and I got instruction but it quit happening so I had not done anything. This time it was solid and the book says land. I had 20 min to nearest airport and It was 104 degrees out so I wasn't pleased about what was going on. I landed at Jean airport very near a casino south of Vegas. I had to disconnect lane B from the ECU and reconnect it. Put the glare shield back in and departed uneventfully for N. Las Vegas where now the winds were 16G23 but fortunately right down the numbers. Still had a nice landing then a Gust lifted me back off the runway so I could make a second landing. Lane B never came back on. Anyhow, I couldn't relax the entire night but my son and I had an enjoyable time at dinner then a Cirque show anyhow. I think that due to the bumps we were experiencing on our way, the connection was being compromised. If you've seen how these cables connect to the ECU with latches that pull them in tight and then lock, you might not believe they could be a bit off. It seems I may have had a pin connection compromised and simply pulling the plug and reinserting it may have done the deed. I am going to have CPS hook it up to the computer to verify that I am not overlooking something. Coming home was a much better experience.
Looking forward to hearing how the Fly-In went.

Whew! I'm glad you got it worked out Eddie. Hopefully CPS gives you a clean bill of health for peace of mind. It's unfortunate you didn't make it to the Fly-In. There have been some good photos posted to the FB group. I'll try to add a few here too. There will be many, many more opportunities for fun in that plane.

Ed, just curious. How long was the flight to KVGT from KCNO?
I did my night fight from CNO to VGT for my PPL yrs ago in a piper 160... Took like 3 hrs each way @ 9,500-10,500
Because of the precautionary landing I did 30 min south of Vegas I took more than two hours. However, I have 4.6 hrs total trip time on my transponder. I came directly home and had a 2.6 hour time because of the headwinds of up to 35 miles per hour North of San Bernardino. I had 10-15mph tailwinds going up so I was making great time at 7500ft .

Eddie,
I’d appreciate a couple pics to see how you blocked off the lower cowl. I’m looking at doing the same thing. I can exceed 220 cylinder head temp in the climb and I don’t want to run that high.
There is a bump on the lower cowl just beneath the radiator. I used a segment of Fire Shield (left over from the engine oil lines) and affixed it on top of the bump. That closed off the passage beneath the radiator.

When you are about 5 south of Jean, NV (0L7), ask Las Vegas Approach for the "Rocks 2 Arrival for North Las Vegas"
