Larry, FYI the exhaust PN for the ULS is different.
If anyone hasn't seen Trent Palmers latest YouTube video you should watch. Its a good 18 min clip.

How much clearance should I provide so I dont burn the fiberglass?
Remember, I messed up the paint before. Thankfully, before I put final paint on, I got my exhaust and realized I hadn’t cut the exhaust hole yet.
I think 1/2” is the recommended distance

I think those pictures show a situation where the clearance is not sufficient, Eddie. I think Josh's suggestion of 1/2" should be more than adequate.

I cut a hole twice the diameter of the pipe. Flying this since 2009 with no indication of heat distress on the 'glas or paint. Also no conflicts when removing the cowl with the nose wheel strut.
This is with the 912ULS - no idea if it is different for higher HP engines turbo etc (i.e. - more heat).

Josh is right. I looked in the manual. It states 1/2" clearance. Thanks guys.
It sure looks good sticking out the bottom vs the side like mine but I find it looks fine. I don't care for the weld being exposed but I plan on chroming the pipe so It aught to look pretty good in spite of that.
On to the Dremel.

Here’s some work done today. For whomever it was that was waiting to see colors. Paint came out pretty nice for a rookie. Im happy. Unfortunately I can still make out where the super fill was used to patch the blemishes in the fiberglass.
Paint matches, just different time of day.
Better shot after polishing.
Interestingly my hole comes out past Dave’s. The hole isn’t nice and round cause it pokes through the ripple in the cowl. I was wondering why. Must be from the turbo. It must push it further out
