Photos of this type of push lock fitting would be appreciated. I'm new to all of this and I suspect this is in my future.
Great thread.

By holding the fittings in a soft-jawed vice I've been able to install the hose dry without any other help from heat or lubricant. Guess I have strong fingers.

The key is the vice jaws. Summit Racing makes a set of jaws that fit the fittings. I have used them on several race cars and on my Zenith 601. I used a dab of 30wt oil and push them on in one motion. My race cars were high temp oil lines with very high pressure. I'm more into aluminum flared fittings and hard lines now but I still use push lock for fuel lines and oil cooler lines.
I did find this neat tool while looking for a photo of the jaws. I might have to buy one of these babies

My old wrists are still feeling the stress from working those hoses on. If I had any more to install, I would certainly like to have that tool (or maybe John will get one ). I did not find who actually sells it though.

I have that tool . I got it from Murdock Industries, they are an Aeroquip source. I did get it a couple or so years ago. It only works for straight fittings.
I did get a set of an jaws for in the vise that hold any an fitting , they allow you to use some body weight. I got those from the local auto speed / performance shop.

It reminds me of another forum I participated in years ago. We had special tools that were donated by a member and passed around to other members for the cost of freight. It was a cool idea.
Thank's John, I have now decided to install PTFE (TEFLON) like I have on the fuel.
Do you use hose clamps on the Push Lock fittings as I read somewhere they were not required, I am concerned about the heat when used in the oil system as I used boiling water to install them.
