    Default model 3 tires

Anyone have any experience with Kenda speed racer K546 20x7.00-8 tires.

I plan to replace the original cheng shing buffed smooth tires.

Not enough room for wider tires.

    Mostly on grass. Some pavement.

    thanks for any information.

Out of interest, why don't you have room for wider ones? I put 21 inch NANCO's on mine and they fit fine.

I have the wooden speed fairings on the landing gear and only about 1 inch clearance.

Could you please send me a link to purchase the Nanco tires and their dimensions.

    Thanks
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
I'm using the Nanco's on a Model III with wooden strut fairings. They're wide, but I don't have any clearance issues. I've had good luck with them both on grass and pavement.

There are many sellers. Either look on Ebay or Google "Nanco N800 Slick" and you should find them. You might want to verify the date code with the seller. Mine turned out to be old stock although it hasn't caused me any trouble.

Thanks, I will have to make some careful measurements.

    Will my original wheels work?

    And how about tubes?

    Regards

Mine are mounted on the original Douglas 8" wheels. I don't use tubes and have no issues. I generally run them at about 6 lbs pressure.

Here's a pic to give an idea of what they look like on my plane:

This is my old Mk4 with the NANCO's on and the standard gear. It had the original ATV wheels.

I ran them at 8psi, and definitely no tubes. You don't want the tyre slipping on the rim at that low pressure and rip the valve stem.

I will warn you that when your NANCO's arrive you'll think they're wrong, because they have very flat profiles on top when they're not inflated. Blow them up and watch them take shape!

The Nanco 21x12-8 smooth tires almost fit.

They just hit the speed fairing. :-(

I could hack off some of the speed fairing.

Maybe just keep the old tires in service.

With 8lbs in them did they finally take shape and stop rubbing the fairing?
