    Default "N" Number Display Size

    SS7 Build
If I use 3" high numbers, does it in any way limit where I can fly in the US?

    Thanks

Sorry, all I know is Canada is a whopping 10". I think that the US standard is 4" but someone else can confirm or deny that.

3 inch Roman Capitol letters and numerals are good on aircraft with speeds up to 180 knots in the U.S.

    Straight from the source: http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx...45_main_02.tpl

Bottom line: 3 inch is fine in the US for a Kitfox. There are also some letter width, contrast, and location restrictions.

If you leave the country you will need 12 inch letters to penetrate the ADIZ on return. I have read conflicting "internet" comments with regard to whether 12 inch are required leaving the US. I put them on before I go. These can be temporarily taped on.

If you only fly in the contiguous 48 states 3 inch numbers will work just fine as long as you do not penetrate an ADIZ.

No problem, you say you won't fly to Canada or Mexico. But you could get stung flying to Fun N Sun if you take a short cut across the gulf on the west side of Florida.

If that condition should arise just use temp numbers with 2 inch wide tape and you are good to go.

I have flown in and through Canada a number of times, and my 3" numbers have never been an issue.

I think Transport Canada has bigger fish to fry than to worry about the size of your letters. There are some funny rules regarding letter size in Canada and you can get special permission to use smaller letters if there is not enough room on the side of the plane. Then there is the issue of is it a Certified aircraft or an Ultralight (Canada's version of Light Sport). I think worry about your rules and if you fly north of the 49th you probably won't be bothered.
    No guarantees just my thoughts.
