    Default nav/strobe standoff

Does anyone have a source for wingtip nav/strobe standoffs? Can't seem to find at ACS.

Yes I used the Kitfox standoffs on my Hoerner wingtips. Kitfox also has standard wingtips with standoffs already molded in.

I have the regular style tips. Will the same standoffs work? Or maybe i dont even them. Hard to tell without cutting a hole first. I have the whelen 600 series nav/strobes.

I used 1/8 ply (the stuff used for the ribs and such) cut out to the shape of the tip light. After sanding a flat spot on the wing tip, epoxied the ply on with a structural mix and filled the remaining gaps with micro. After some sanding and fairing it looks good (to me) and was relatively easy.

A call to Kitfox should answer whether it will fit the standard wingtip, but I like Dorsal's idea, probably no more work than gluing and fairing in the separate standoff piece. Then you have a custom shape for your particular strobe/nav lights. The bases for the different brands are NOT the same.

I did exactly as Dorsal did, and did not even copy his idea as I have thousands of others from this site.

I had the Hoerner style standoffs, but gave them away, since they would require substantial modification to work on the basic tips that I also have.

I sanded a bit of a flat area onto the tip before gluing the plywood base.
