I remember seeing somewhere that this brace at the end of the flaparon arm is no longer used on the Series 6 & 7. Is this true? If so can it be eliminated on the Series 5? It is a pain when folding wings, gets in the way.DSC_4382.jpg

It's not on the factory built SLSA I have. You can see the pilot side here barely. It's better on the original. Zoom up on the phot. If you want I can take a picture later that is closer to the Flaperon push pull.

David, I finished my Series 5 , in 2003 , and while the phenolic bushings came in my kit, the factory (Skystar) eliminated them in their demonstrator airplanes so I never used them in my airplane with no ill effects 700 hours later. Bruce N199CL
Thanks Paul & Bruce. Mine are coming off.

Maybe John McBean can chime in here, but my thought was that they were necessary on the early style (1-3) planes that used extended wood wing ribs to hold the flapperons, but the advent of the metal flapperons brackets made them unnecessary.
I do have them in my IV, and plan to use them on my project model IV as well.
I stopped at the airport today. Here is what the Kitfox SLSA has, no brace. Having flown both of Paul Leaderbrands plane I do not recall braces on his either. This is the Pilots side.
