    Default Night flight

Hello Everyone, Last night My instructor and I did my 3 hrs of night flight, It was AWESOME. We started right before dark and kept doing takeoff and landings till complete dark. Then we left KOFK To KLCG about a 30 mile cross country, landed then returned home. What a awesome aircraft!!!

    Good to hear Patrick!
Night flying is one of my favorite times to fly. Nice and peaceful, generally low traffic volume, and the beauty of city lights or the open, uninhabited landscape is picturesque! Many more to come I'd imagine, ehh?

I wish I could say the same since I turned 50, my depth perception isn't very good. Definately tough on landings.

I did notice the depth perception!!! especially after coming back from the other airport! I bounced alittle! I will definitely feather it alittle more!

    Patrick,

Glad to hear of your night flying experience......Although it has been a while for me, your comments about the striking beauty of that first night trip brought back the memories for met - like it was yesterday.

Yup - it's quite different; and, it does challenge the develpement of new skills in this unique environment - and we learn & enjoy! Keep it up & you will develope cat eyes!

Flying under a full moon on a clear night is a beautiful thing too.

It's a great way to enjoy the shorter days of winter

    Sincerely,

I never did like flying at night. I learned to fly in the San Francisco bay area back in the '80's. It was a little busy to say the least. And it's one big sheet of city lights.

Having done the engine-less landing behind a stopped prop once in my
airplane, was enough to convince me that as bad as it was in the daytime,
I want to do it at night even less ...

Night flying is a nice time to fly. I just don't do it anymore.
