    Default Wing Tip repair suggestions

This is some minor damage to the right wing tip of my model 2. Being new to this, I am open to suggestions/recommendations for repair procedures.

    Lou,
It appears to be fiberglass damage... there are books on such repairs, and the internet has a bunch of how to videos on U-Tube... an option is to take her to a body shop or boat repair shop. Find a shop that does good Corvette work if you are out sourcing the work.

I would try and see if there is any damage to the wing tip area where it attaches to the outside first rib.

I was wondering how long it would take for ole' N6065G to surface... you have a nice aircraft..... (I know one of the previous owners very well.)

Enjoy... and congratulations on your new bird!

My favorite picture of your aircraft!

Can't wait to read of your experiences with her!

That is a great picture. I'm going to steal it!
I don't think there is any damage beyond what is visible. It happened when I was moving it, still on the trailer, in the warehouse where I work. She is going to spend the winter there while I become intimately familiar with her
I had another employee assisting and he was, apparently, not paying any attention. It is just a rub against a breaker box. Yea, he is also known to dump items from a forklift

I love the paint! I would have added a Black outline pin stripe, but love it. Desert Fox should consider the paint combination.

Looking at the damage, it just appears that the gel coat resin is cracked/broken but the glass is still good. If you scarf away the broken gel coat/surface resin, re-wet the cloth, then fill, sand and paint you should be good, if there is no underlying damage.

Fiberglass is real easy to work with. I would sand off the paint in that area, and patch over it with new fiberglass. Sand it down smooth back to the original shape and repaint it. If you can see or feel any bumps or ridges before you paint, they will show up worse after it's painted. If you have some low spots after the fiberglassing, fill them with bondo. Jim Chuk

Thanks all. The responses are pretty much in line with what I had thought would do the trick. I've just not yet had any experience with aircraft.

    Lou,
When I sat in "then Bob's Kitfox" I was hooked!

He did not need to turn on the engine... I didn't need to go fly... it was a done deal... I was now "infected" with the Kitfox ailment! My daughter and her husband say I have "OCDBA... Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Building Airplane... "
Here is the photo that captured the moment when I was "infected!"

I hope you have a fantastic time with her!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

    With Warm Regards,
    Grover
