I just used a pair of tinsnips either left or right depending on how you are orentated To cut the scallops Its compleatly under control and no chance of the sanding drum making a big gouge. Time is not really a factor I think it took me about 1/2 hour to cut both of them. Probably about the same as it would take with the drum sander.
I wish I was working now on my plane but instead I'm killing time in Portland (100miles away) getting radiation treatment for prostrate cancer. All part of the price for answering the call of duty and serving in the Air Force in Vietnam. The duty that keeps on taking.

That sounds good, rainbird... glad it worked for you. So sorry to hear about the cancer. I wish you the best of luck. Agent Orange?

I scalloped the trailing edge of the LLE, as done by Bill & Phil (Desert Fox 1). Pic on page 1

John, What is the reason for scalloping the trailing edge of the LLE? This question coming from someone who know very little about building an airplane. Harlan

Esthetics. I believe the thought was that the scalloping would create a more graceful transition to the slight "valley" between the ribs that starts at the trailing edge of the LLE.

That's great John. Wish my wife would fly with me; I'm usually alone for my $100 burgers, but wouldn't mind at all to make it $200.

That's interesting John. McMaster has quite a variety of those brushes and possibly yours were a different material than mine. Mine were all nylon, brushes and header. Just Hysol has kept mine on for about 5 years now, with the panels on and off every year for annual. Admittedly I have not pulled very hard to test them, just normal use and flexing when the panels are removed. Your method will certainly be secure.
