    Default Flapperon prep for priming

After using a scotchbrite pad on the flaperons, what else should I do to prepare them for the epoxy primer (if anything). Thanks

    Jeff,
I guess it depends on how far you want to go. On my first Kitfox, I rinsed with Alumiprep, then applied Alodine. The former cleans all impurities and any corrosion from the aluminum and the latter chemically changes the surface to resist corrosion and enhance paint adhesion. The second time around, I just scrubbed with 400 grit and primed. The first flaperons were perfect after 9 years. The second set of flaperons are perfect after a year and a half - so who knows for sure.
