I bought a plane with a Rotax 912UL (80 hp) that has the Extraperformance 95 HP piston upgrade installed in it. The plane sat for 11+ years without being flown. I have flown it approximately 50 hrs. since 'getting it out of mothballs' and it is using an excessive amount of oil to my liking. I have put in several ounces for every hour flown. The plugs foul quickly also. I am guessing from all the time sitting and 'people looking to buy it' had spun the engine over with dry cylinders.
I am new to the Rotax engines so am looking for help.
Is it very difficult to remove the cylinders and have new rings installed? Something I could easil;y do or should I leave it to a mechanic?
Anyone in the northern MN (Bemidji) area that can do this? Or at least somewhere close by?
