Default How do you get your strip on the sectional?

I have a 2700x 150 strip and I always thought it might be neat to be on the sectional. I have called the FAA's local office and they are useless people. AOPA says to contact the FAA, which again was useless. I go up to Nashville to the local FAA chapter to walk in and the guy I was trying to contact was out all week. It can't be that hard, people do it all the time! Where do I get this kind of information? Thanks.

This link - http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/fligh...m?print=go#q3b - provided the following 800 number to contact the FAA. Maybe it will get you to someone who can help?

How do I add a public or private airport to a chart? (One with a FAA Location Identifier)

Airports with hard and soft surface runways are depicted on VFR charts. Enroute charts require at least a 3000 foot hard surface runway to be depicted. If your airport meets those criteria and you would like your airport charted you should contact the local Federal Aviation Administration, Airports District Office or Aeronautical Information Management, AJV-21, at 1-866-295-8236. The FAA Specialist will verify your airport information and publish a change in the National Flight Data Digest. This change will generate a charting directive to depict your airport on the chart. FAA will chart your airport if it does not interfere with any existing chart data that may have a higher safety priority and or cause chart clutter. Every effort will be made to move chart data around and accommodate your airport name and symbol depiction on the chart for the next publication cycle.

IMO - The best option is not to. Why expose yourself to the government voluntarily? This exposure can only lead to others sticking their nose in where it is not wanted (insurance companies, local government, local law enforcement, zoning, etc.).

My instinct is to stay as invisible to government entities as possible.

Tagging onto the last to good posts, if a local town can afford to purchase their own Fire truck or Ambulance then it is theirs. If they ask the government for one dime, then the government can take that vehicle over when THEY see to it.
    Keep that in mind.

The only reason is that my aviation attorney cautioned me of having my fly ins with my buddies on private property. He can do his magic and attach it to my LLC so if somebody hits my neighbors house, the guy was trying to land on an airport and not a "lawn". It's not stopping me from flying and all of my neighbors enjoy the rides and planes. It really worked out well. I'm all about less govt! Don't get me wrong here, I'm just asking to educate myself and try to gather information to see what's the best way to have the runway with the least amount of liability.

You could get Jepesen to add it to their database. Then at least it will be on the next update for GPS data... That is what we did.

Once the camel gets it's nose under the tent.......

"We're from the FAA, and we are here to help"

Heres how this was handled in a similar situation in Minnesota.... Flyers were printed up, posted, emailed and mailed. All had the same "attendance is at your own risk" tag line at the bottom. Rudimentary, yes, but if you hit a house, seriously, is it the the carpenters fault for putting it there? :-) Anyone who would do such a thing shoulkd have spent more time trying to learn to control the snorting air beast, not conspiring with attorneys.

Want to know how I really feel about it? LOL

Greasy side Down, Shiny side up.....
