    Looks like if it were anything other than a glider it could have been a worse outcome. They were well within a half mile before it alerted. For two aircraft with a closing velocity of 400kts, they could have smashed into each other.

    Which Kitfox model would that be?
    Yes, you are right about head-on courses, but in other scenarios, such as two planes converging into the landing pattern, etc. there would be much more time available to "detect and avoid".

    True. But I just think there's better options out there that give a much bigger heads up. I never even gave TAS or TCAS a though until I started flying military and had all of the goodies available to me. It was a real eye opener how many IFR and VFR aircraft there were around me. But I'm sure something is better than nothing out there.
