I'm surprised no one has mentioned Howard Firm's bird strike in his Kitfox 4. For those that don't know the account, he hit a seagull and it went through the cowl and busted off a fuel line on his fuel injection. He had a Suburu engine in the plane. The gas started on fire when it hit the exhaust and he had to land looking out the side window. He lived about 25 miles from me and while he was building his Kitfox 5 I met him and he told me about the loss of the 4. Poor guy didn't have any luck with fires, there was a hangar fire where he had the 5 and it along with one or two other planes were burned up. He said his shoulders were a bit black and blue and sore from the seatbelts holding him in place when the plane flipped over but otherwise he wasn't hurt. Take care, Jim Chuk
