This site:

mentions "apparent engine problems on takeoff"
The FAA registry says it had a Rotax, but not what model.

I am the Kitfox 4 pilot who survived the Pearson field crash, loosing my good friend Gary Spark. He was my Kitfox transition instructor.
5 weeks in ICU 3 in a induced comma
Broken,
rt, ankle,
LF knee shattered rebuilt
every vertebra fractured
Smashed removed L1 L2 vertebra
broken neck at c2
multiple fractures in skull
smashed jaw compound fractures, Got a rebuilt jaw
16 ribs
punctured both lungs
had internal swelling so they gutted me to allow room for breathing and circulation, I'm still gutted but have a skin graph covering it till July then they can separate my abdominal muscles and stitch them back together.
I attributed my survival to the robust Kitfox frame and hooker 4 point harnesses.
I am still healing at home the last few weeks
I lost my good friend sadly, I also lost my Kitfox and I miss her
Wow, just wow, thats a lot of repair and healing. I am glad you are still here to post and very sorry for the loss of your friend.

What a miracle! Wish you well in your healing and hope you get back into a life that will not require you to be tethered to mechanical devices.
