    Thanks for that Brad.
So many times I have flown that route when I was flying many years ago. From Chandler to Tucson all the time both civilian flying and Army Guard crewing Helicopters. Brings back many memories. Can't wait to do that again. Next Year!

Kitt Peak is an interesting place to visit. These huge concrete donuts with murals painted on them are the counter weights used to balance the heavy weight of the mirrors in the telescopes when they were transported up there.

Default Mountains to coast in late spring Australia

Yesterday was a such a nice day that we decided a trip to the coast for fisn'chipswas in order. Leaving Mt Beauty a straight climb up to 6500ft to clear our local Mt Bogong was in order and gently down hill to the coast at Orbost, left turn and 45nm to Mallacoota for a coffee stop. We decided to go another 42 miles along the coast in such great weather to Merimbula for lunch. We returned the the aircraft to find a 20kt gusting 25 kt sea breeze staight down the strip - a very short take off! Then returned to Mt Beauty at 8500ft to avoid mechanical turbulence. Strange to have such warm weather and still a fair bit of snow around. A great day out in the mighty kitfox! (and the first with the new t3 tailwheel - wow, what comfort!)

    cheers

    Wow Ross!
    Looked Great!
Strange wave formation on that coastline - Is it very shallow, or is there a reef further out to sea?
Do you land on that mown strip of grass next to the tar at Mt. Beauty?

I must say, I have my eye on that tail wheel assembly.....
Maybe another steer or two must go into the Kitfox

What a beautiful fall day Larry. My wife & I grew up in the Midwest (MI and WI) and really miss the colors you get there. We just don't get colors like that in Idaho . . . but we have some pretty cool airstrips.

Ross, did you install those shiny new tires while airborne? They don't appear to have touched the ground.

Ross -- Those tires look like they have a fresh coat of Herculiner on them. Was that your first application? How's that working for you?

I got a set a of Airstreaks that I put liner on. Not much use, yet but they seem to be doing okay.

That was really good, Larry! How great to have so many beautiful grass private strips so close. I appreciated the commentary... nice job.
