I got lucky and flew in a different area with a fellow forum member KitFox2009. Don flys a Model V in the Penticton area of western Canada. Thanks Don for a great ride in an amazing airplane. Don's Model V sports a 912UL 80HP and boasts spectacular performance thanks to an IVO in flight adjustable prop. Don says when he switched from the GSC prop to the IVO C-FOXK became a whole new airplane. Take-off is brisk and when the prop is set for cruise the airspeed jumps to 117mph at 5200 rpm. Previously this was a 100mph airplane.
I have a 912UL with the same IVO in flight adjustable prop for my Model IV. I hope my performance is similar.
As with all 912's I can't believe how smooth the motor and plane combination is. By the way fuel burn is only 15 litres an hour. Little more than 3 Imp gals an hour or less than 4US gal an hour. Pretty reasonable cost of operation.

Picture of Penticton and Don doing his walk around before our flight.

Hey Norm. Fun day for you and Don. Don has a very sweet Vixen.
He is doing real well on 80 hp.
You will be happy with your prop engine combo Norm.

Nice Pictures, Scott. Stunning area and it is a good match for your stunning Kitfox. The cub guys with you must always be jealous....

The picture labelled, "Chuckar Flats" looks like it had a couple of landing possibilities in it? How long and smooth were those gravel bars? Was the grassy patch on the right, rough?

    I'm just quizzy.

    Regards
    Reid

Reid, Chuckar is about 900'. I wouldn't land off the RW. The second field has multiple spots to land and the third has many spots to land. It was a fun day out flying!

    Default Holbrook flyin

After being away for a month, it is good to be back and flying again. As it turns out there was a local flyin planned for Easter by the group who started the ultra light movement here in Australia. It was Holbrook (Ah, google earth!), only an hours flight from Mt Beauty, so it was a great chance for us to load up the Kitfox with our camping gear for the first time and try out under-wing camping. This was timely as we are planning a trip through the centre of Australia in a couple of months time. The flyin was interesting with a wide range of aircraft, the weather was great and there was a lot of interest in our Kitfox. An interesting side event was a friend who has a property nearby was hosting his son's wedding - he decided to fly the bride in to the hilltop ceremony in his Super Cub so he asked Gayle to help her board while preserving modesty! I have included a shot of the W&B with alll our gear in the Kitfox - as you can see we still have plenty of weight left - which will be good for some extra water and perhaps fuel at times during our more remote trips.

    cheers

Lovely way to camp, Ross. Thanks for the pics.
I am on my way out now to do an Easter Monday hour over the farm to check the water and cattle etc. 08H00.

Could you please e-mail me that spread sheet??
I will PM you my addy.

Is that yellow one a Corby?
I really would love to get my hands on a Corby Starlet to do aerial ballet with.......
I am saving to snap one up one day before I get too old to fly.

That spreadsheet is on the Kitfox factory website under Technical FAQ; click on Weight & Balance Worksheet. Very hand, easy to use.
