Hi Mic,
Jim here from Pa. It was a pure pleasure meeting you in Pa. and also spending some time together at Oshkosh. I hope some day to be able to take such a trip.
Thank you from all of us here for sharing your adventure with us.
Happy New Year,
today s NYE here so Gayle and I flew up to our friends Russell and Mel place this morning - only about 30mins flight but a nice trip up the valley and then across Lake Hume - they own a caravan park on the edge of the lake and have made a landing strip for their Highlander that runs up the hill in a paddock. Friend Col also flew in with his cub. Nice breakfast and then home to Mt Beauty in time have a sleep in preparation for NYE!!!
Having heard about the freezing conditions our Nth Hemisphere friends are enjoying, I thought it only right to share a little of the sunshine and warmth we are enjoying here!
Thanks again to everyone who makes this site possible and contributes so freely - it is a great place to start dreams, live them and share them.
All the best to everyone for a great 2018 - may it be full of successful builds and flying adventures!
Cheers from down under.

Nice spot Ross. Spent many summers on some of the sandy areas around Lake Hume in my younger days. Great photos.

Same here, Josh.
Just heard on the radio we've had eight straight days below zero (Fahrenheit). It just made zero on my thermometer at home today. We expect a reprieve tomorrow, then back in the deep freeze again. I brought home the snowmobiles from the hangar today. This guarantees we won't get any more snow this winter either...
Go-go-gadget - Global Warming!
OUch Josh! That makes it just on 70'c difference between where you are and we are!
You know I worked in Antarctica for over a year and it seldom got that cold down there!!!
Stay warm ... and safe.. Perhaps when the sun shines and it warms up your Kitfox will be ready to fly!
And yours too Dave! Russell's place on the Hume awaits you!
cheers

Hello Ross.
Happy new year everyone!
The weather is in the upper 30 deg Celsius here in SA as well!
@ Ross, The guy in the blue shirt with his leg up makes me think that the horse flies are bothering you guys too?

We've been having some fun here too on the bush strip on the farm....
My AMO friend, Dave finished building his SS7 that he bought as an insurance write-off. It had an engine failure and landed on a national road where a truck promptly crashed into it after the occupants had egressed.(lucky them).
Dave put in a 912ULS and an in-flight adjustable prop, and when he let me take it up at my farm field, I was amazed at its performance!
Its slow flight is also so much better than Foxy Feet.
He bought it, rebuilt it and got it flying for under $ 19000.00
That's value!
I'll post some pics of it on the farm when Iv'e downloaded them from my phone...
All the best for 2018!!
