Mic,
I agree with DF4. I live in the mountains, fly in the mountains, and I think they always look like they would just love to reach up and stick a hole in my plane.

Today was one of those unbelievably calm mornings.
Nice one Scott. think I recognise a few of those spots! I see that you are still hunting as a pack - regards to Doug and Jim.

Looks like a perfect fun flying day Scott. Great shots. Reminds me I'm not doing enough flying lately.

That's right Ross. We did stop at a couple of those gravel bars along with some new ones that we found. Maybe I see Steve in McCall? Good luck on your builds!!!
My friend Jon and I took a trip this weekend from Portland to Joseph, OR on the other side of the state to a fly-in there. I flew my Kitfox and Jon flew his Cessna 180, and he took some nice photos of the trip. Especially our tour over the Eagle Cap Wilderness area, some of the most rugged mountains in the US.
Photo 1-Sneaking thru the Columbia Gorge early morn under a low overcast.
2-Over the Deschutes River canyon.
3-North central Oregon near Pendleton.
4-The Blu Mountains near Meacham pass.
5-Wallowa Lake arriving at Joseph.
6-Joseph fly-in and breakfast; about 60 planes.
7-Jon the C180 driver with a fine DC3 on display at Joseph.
8-Lined up for fuel before leaving Joseph.
9-Yours truly fueling my Kitfox.
10-Climbing out of Joseph up into the Eagle Cap Wilderness area.
11-We had to climb to 10,500' to properly clear some of the ridges.
12-Really rugged terrain.
13-Lots of beautiful alpine lakes in the wilderness.
14-The Minam River glaciated canyon. Red's and Minam River Lodge backcountry landing strips are located at the far end of the canyon. Did not land there this time; had to get home.

Thanks for posting the Oregon photos guys. I recognize a few areas I think.
jiott, Did you notice the fire in the upper left of the Minam photo?

Ross, the weather was only low going thru the gorge thru the Cascade mountains, which is kind of typical in early mornings. On our way home that same day in the afternoon the clouds had lifted and were no problem.
TJ, yes that fire was very near our route home so we had to be careful and stay to the South of the TFR as we went by.

Took a quick overnight trip to Chuckar Flats on the John Day river to watch the Perseid meteor shower.
You can't really see the heard of Antelope on the left end of the runway. They scattered up the valley on final.

Doug and I parked for the show.

After a nice swim in the unbelievably warm river we set up camp for the meteor shower.

This morning we flew up the canyon to another spot on a ranch along the river.

Came across one of the natives while exploring the ranch.
