Default Rotax 912/914 Carb Heat Solutions

Hello Everyone. I am curious for those of you that are running carb heat in your 912/914 what system you have and how do you like it. I have been looking into them and a lot seem to be electric. Does anyone have anything set up that runs off your coolant or oil? Such as this one: http://www.ultralightnews.ca/bing/carbheater.htm

I am leaning towards that one as I dont want to draw anymore power than I have too as well as the fact that I don't want to have to create heat if I want to lose it at the same time. Let me know I'd be interested to see your set ups.

    Hello Esser

I have been using the water jacket units on my 912UL for the past 150 hours. Seems to work, as I have never experienced any carb problems that I can tell.

They are easy to install, always ON and so far trouble free. Available from Bob at Light Engine Service in Salmon Arm,BC. 250 832 8786.

    Have fun

    Hi,
How do the carb drip trays mount with the manifold in place . Is there even enough room for the drip trays with the coolant manifold ?

Do you get a powerloss from them? Or do they run jsut warm enough that it's not really noticeable? I'm just wondering if putting a by-pass valve on it would be worth it or not.

No powerloss. They are "on" all the time.... not like the traditional carb heat.

I have never run mine without them, so I do not know about power loss. They just seem to maintain enough heat to prevent ice building on the metal. This should not result in much (if any) loss.
