Default EGT Probe location for a 912ULS?

One place in the Install manual it shows 3.93" from the head/flange, but it's unclear HOW EXACTLY you're measuring that (center of the exhaust in a bent tube, outside of the arc, inside of the arc)? that creates a lot of variation and potentially a lot of distance.

Then in some other documentation I see it says 2.76" from the head.... something I found online...

confusion, confusion. Can someone tell me EXACTLY where those darn EGT probes are supposed to be drilled in and how to measure it for most accurace location?

    Thanks!

    Wild,
There was a good post by J Pit a while back as well as some good articles in Kitplane (I think) the upshot of which is that the exact location of the EGT probe is not critical. EGT should only be used as a relative measurement and therefore is fairly tolerant of variations in probe location, for example Dynon recommends a range of 2-8 inches from the cylinder head.
