Default How to quieten down a 582

    Hi
Have a grey 582 on the nose. It is unbelievably noisy.
It does have a single muffler but no additional exhaust/mufflers
I have also read the a carb silencer/muffler makes a difference.
Does any one have any experience or tips before I spend money on something I know very little about.
    Thanks

Hey Grant I have a 532 and can't bearly hear the thing running. I would say the muffler is burned out /rust out buy new one and put on . Oh one way to tell if it is burned out is it sound tiny high pitch. The baffel inside the muffler are no good and this will steal power from you too.

There is a "security bolt" that fits through one predrillled hole but is too tall to put the bolt through the clamp. it looks like you need to drill/dent the 2nd skin to make it fit.
Has anyone done this or shed any light. At he moment they are headed for the trash can....
    Thanks

    Hi
This is a photo of the exhaust with the "pin" and the hole. As you can see the pinhole is in the outer skin, I'm not sure if I need dent or drill the inner skin.
The clamp is not in its final position, I'll position it over that hole and tighten it up

    Thanks

Grant, open this link to the Rotax manual and scroll to section 10.2 http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...U66zwA&cad=rja

It shows a good picture diagram and instructions to locate and drill the hole needed for the pin.
