    Default RSV4 and rotax

Watched a tv show last night about this rsv4 motorcycle. It has a 160hp rotax engine. It has fuel injection and other very cool features. Have not checked it out yet but thought I would through it out for your input. It is a v 4 cylinder and if they can fuel inject this engine maybe they could do the same with the 912.

Rotax won't offer fuel injection any time soon. They can not get a vendor to produce it for them for liability reasons. Therefore, the only option is for Rotax to do it themselves and it is not a priority for the limited resources of the aircraft engine division of BRP right now.

"...can not get a vendor to produce it for them for liability reasons..."

That wouldn't make sense... i.e. Rotax can cover the vendor's liability... and does so in reality because the vendor doesn't get sued (at least initially)... your point about Rotax not wanting to invest $$$ or efforts into engine improvements as an "it aint broke, why fix it?" strategy is very correct.

They have no real competition... yet.

did some more digging on this engine that is on the RSV4 motor cycle.
    912s- RSV4 rotax
    95hp at 5500 rpm 177 hp at 12000
    100hp at 5800 rpm 61 cu in.
82.6 cu in. 85 ft lb. at 10000 rpm
94 ft lb. at 5500 rpm

I am surprised that the torque is so low and the scarey high rpm. I guess what started this is the fuel injection part of the engine. There have been 1000s of these bike produce with this engine and they all have the fuel injection. How much trouble could it be to add it to the 912? This motorcycle can be purchased for $16K, thats the whole bike...we can't even buy the 912 for that. Somethings not right here.
    I'm just saying........
