i heard that the tubes could be routed into the air filters just behind the clamp is this true

That vent tube is used to sense the outside the pressure for the float bowl.
If your air cleaner is dirty that will change the sensed pressure. Of course it also changes the pressure in the venturi so maybe it is a wash...
There are metal "cups" that can be placed under the carbs to catch the fuel drips.

house hold stainless steel ladel with hole in bottom peened alliminium tube running down fire wall past exhaust with handle suitably shortend and bent and drilled bolted onto left carb, rotax item 100 pounds, domestic ladel buttons, easily fitted without disturbing carb
