    Default Kitfox Update

OK.. It has been awhile since an update.

Lets just say we are extremely busy with Kit orders, SLSA orders and of course parts.. Thank you for the support and the patience from the Kitfox family.

We just returned from the Arlington Air show in Arlington, WA. 11 years going to the Arlington show and I think this was the 3rd time I was able to fly over the Cascades and look down to see the beautiful mountain country that we live in. It was a great show.. started off a little slow but Friday and Saturday were busy. We had 5 Kitfox's lined up in our booth. Congrats to John Kuzmic for his reserve Grand Champion award 914 powered Kitfox S7.

Yes we are going to Oshkosh and are in the North Aircraft display spaces 634 & 635 and we'll have our new factory demo there.

Hopefully we'll be getting an update on the web shortly as well... but 2 days ago we did a first flight on the years factory demo. This is no ordinary Kitfox. We had decided some time ago to develope a firewall forward package for the Rotec 2800 Radial and have been working very hard to get that done.. well with the exception of a few little items left it is flying. So here are a couple of pics. There are some other items that are very interesting and will be available very soon. The LLE (Laker Leading Edge) developed by Phil "Papa" Laker is installed and looks great. I do not have any performance numbers or pricing yet but it does look great and appears to have lowered the stall some. Of course the firewall forward was a team effort with "Papa" and Bill "Mistro" Prokes developing the cowlings and Mark assembling the firewall forward (along with most the rest of the aircraft). We also have a new main gear setup that we have drop tested with great results and yeilded a much higher strength then expected or required. (one drop test test is worth a thousand expert opinions)

So without getting into too much detail.. we have been very busy.. Kit orders are into October currently and SLSA's are into next year.

Enjoy some of the pics.. and we hope to see you at Oshkosh !!

Guaranteed to be a cover girl John. Agree with Wiley. Beautiful. Can't wait to see it at Oshkosh all adorned in the new cowling and pants. It's great that the Kitfox airframe is so versatile as to accept many different engine choices.
Now those that want to go Rotec on their model 5's through 7 Super Sports can have a much easier time with a factory supported firewall forward package.

Is it just me or has anyone else ever noticed the resemblance of the bump cowl Kitfox and the later seried Monocoupe. The Monocoupe had a reverse curved rear fuselage and with the Rotec radial the Kitfox looks even more like it. I think that's a compliment to the Kitfox because the Monocoupe has about the nicest lines of all the classic light planes. Maybe one of you "ace" builders will build a Kitfox with round wingtips and rounded tail and maybe fared over gear legs. The cowling looks good. Up till now no one has come up with one that looks right. The new Luscomb has tried the Rotec radial but the cowling doesn't look right. Too square. James Thomas

John, Do you get the drumming effect you spoke of earlier in another post with the two blade prop(thus use of three blades on Rotax) on the Rotec?

    Dick,
Talked about that last night.. we are not hearing the drumming we have with other 2 blades... We suspect it may be because it is a 76" prop.
