    Default EAA Airventure 2025

The run-up to Airventure 2025 began in earnest this past weekend with the first of 6 weekend work parties. As usual we were given some of the latest news but it was limited this year. The new ultralight field is still anyone's guess with little progress made. The biggest news has to do with parking lots and Camp Scholler. The past several years during peak times, traffic has backed up onto I 41 and the state was not happy. So the powers that be decided that the southwest quadrant of Camp Scholler bounded by the ultralight clear zone (emergency runway), Stitts Ave, Ripple Ave and Poberezny Ave (frontage road) will now be the Purple lot and they estimate will hold 4400 vehicles. To make up for the lost space, Camp Scholler Southeast will open July 9. This area is southeast of Waupun Rd. and will be southwest of the current ultralight field. A new admissions gate and shuttle bus turnaround will be added at the site. Haven't heard of any amenities (showers, store, etc) yet. The feeling was this location will be closer to the flightline. True, but if you can't catch a tram/shuttle bus, it's gonna be a hike to get to say Warbirds. Guess we'll see. Back up in 2 weeks and pass on any news. 76 days and counting.

From what we're being told by EAA brass down at the UL area, the "new" field is 99% DOA.

The property in question is now parking and camping. It is highly doubtful that it will ever become a flying field.

We all need to say a prayer that there are no accidents on the current UL Field because that will most likely mean the end flying operations there. The FAA is watching us closely.

Larry, totally agree with you. FWIW I asked the 2nd in charge of South Maintenance (who would, I think, ultimately build the field) during this weekend's work party about it, and if it's not DOA it sure as hell isn't going to be happening any time soon. Even though the weather sucked, about 50 people showed up so quite a lot got accomplished. 63 days to go.

With 4 weeks til opening day, the 5th work weekend just completed. Although the heat was brutal (+100 heat index) it was the biggest turnout with about 75-80 people attending. The majority of the exhibitor buildings/tents are up or at least the structural members are up waiting for covering. Tram signage is up and the trams were pulled out of storage this weekend. Most of Camp Scholler has been hayed with haying continuing this week. The street signs for the new southeast camping section are being installed and trees/brush were removed at the new entrance to improve sight lines. Camp Scholler does open on Friday. If you are one who stakes out their site on opening day, a new process is in place. It can be found on the Scholler portion of the website. FWIW for those who use it (Larry), Rellemdhatts has about waist high grass right now. No one I spoke to knew their status for this year.

We gave up on the Stadtmueller family last year and went to Scholler. I'm not into their family drama any more. This is also one of the reasons why the Thursday party will most likely not happen any more, either.

What I've heard, Relleumtdats will be open this year for camping but "when" is the usual question.

    Larry,

What?s the Relleumtdats drama you refer to? I?ve been van camping there for many years & haven?t had any issues (other than sometimes hunting for a spot, because I typically go when I can). I know they don?t really offer much (other than portable potties). The food wagons are close & it?s close to the Ultralight entry.

I?ll feel sad if they ever close.

    1st time flying into Oshkosh.

Any heads up to get me to the right place for me and the kitfox to camp under the wing nearby?

I'll be flying in either Thursday or Friday the 17th or 18th.

I drove in 2019 and camped out by the red Barn with Chase.

As soon as "Mom" dies the kids will sell to EAA. The three kids all hate one another with a passion and there is constant strife between them.

We go over the weekend before (this weekend) for a "work party" to help set up and usually bring the camper over. Last year they refused to let anyone in because the brothers were fighting over who was supposed to mow the front field. They didn't open until Thursday before convention started and we needed to be settled before then. I don't know what the situation is this year and at this point it doesn't matter.

We have moved over to Scholler and are much happier there.
