Long shot, but I?m looking for a climb prop for my O200 and was thinking an NR ground adjustable would fit the Bill.

Don?t put a NR prop on a direct drive engine. In fact I don?t think most manufacturers recommend composite props on direct drive engines.

Where did you hear that? Sensenich sells composite props all day long to people with direct drive props (Lycoming on a Super Cub for example, or me with my Verner radial). I also have a Meglin 3 blade carbon prop from Ukraine and he had no reservations about a direct drive engine.

Lots of people have run warp drive props on Continental and Lycomings. About a yr ago, a guy was killed when his NR prop came apart on a 160 HP Lycoming in a Kitfox. Not sure if it really was the prop's fault or the installation. JImChuk
For over 20 years I've talked with prop manufacturers trying to find a ground adjustable composite prop for my Continental IO-240 powered Series 5 and to be blunt , there ain't one out there that I would trust with my life. I've approached Sensenich, Whirlwind, Duc etc and they all say either no or you can try it but the warranty is void. Not very reassuring! So I will simply stay with my wood Sensenich fixed pitch that has served me reliably for 22 years. Wood props are great for absorbing the power pulses . The power pulses on direct drive engines are way different than those with gear boxes and you are truly venturing into test pilot territory when you slap one on and go flying. Lets be careful out there. Bruce N199CL
Bruce, thank you for clarifying that the issue is specific to the 240. Hopefully that is the case. I've had a Whirlwind (supposedly the model specific for the O200) on my O200 for about 500 hrs. No issues. If I do ever change it, though, I'll go with wood.

Hi Ken, with your 500 hr. history of success with the whirlwind prop ,I'd have no worries. When I asked the whirlwind owner at OSH about a prop for my IO-240 he said sure I'll sell you a prop......but with no warranty, that was enough for me to walk away from his booth without a prop. All these manufacturers know the IO-240 is a prop carnivore and its a totally different animal than your O-200 which seems to be happy with most composite props sold for it. Hope you're well , good to hear from you. Bruce N199CL
the production Cessna 162 is powered by a direct drive air-cooled, carbureted Continental O-200-D engine, producing 100 hp (75 kW) at 2,800 rpm and equipped with a two-blade, fixed pitch composite propeller. With the O-200D engine the Skycatcher is capable of cruise at speeds as high as 118 knots

Unfortunately the Continental IO-240 is a completely different animal from the O-200 and Sensenich does not recommend the O-200 prop for the IO-240. This was from the owner of the company. He told me that while they would like to produce a composite prop specific to the IO-240, the market for them isn't large enough so it was never done. Bruce N199CL
I was waiting for more information about the O-240. Comments here have been condemning composite props on direct drive engines, when it seems to really only apply to the "unique power pulses" of the O-240.
Regarding the C162 Skycatcher, the flight school next to my hangar has the biggest fleet anywhere, and a prop on the wall that suffered an interaction with the nearest planet. It is a wood core with fiberglass over it.
