    Default Folding wings question.

Does anyone have a picture of the rear wing brackets that are used for traveling with a kitfox wing folded? I have searched but cannot find anything, but I know there is somewhere on this site. Thanks

Here are wing and empennage transport supports on my Series 5 ready to go. Don't know why my pics lip 90 deg when I attach them , but just turn your head sideways to look at them. Bruce N199CL

Thanks Bruce. I didn't realize the wing didn't have rear lift support, it's just in and out support looking at your pics. That is why I couldn't figure this out in my head.
I appreciate the pictures very much. Harlan

I snapped some pictures for you of mine. I couldn't tell you exactly what goes where as I'm still a long ways from being able to use them lol. Hopefully the pictures help. ~Jared~

    Braces.jpeg

Harlan - I purchased the braces when I bought my kit and when I went to use them, the ones outlined in red didn't fit the STi wing. They needed some modifications. Are you in need of some to use or do you want a set forever? I would certainly loan you mine for a bit.

Hey Gary thanks for the offer. The weather is bad here for the next week and the condition inspection and engine install are completed. I have always had in mind to make a set to trailer the plane if anything happened to strand me somewhere. I have the time now in the heated shop while we hit single digit temps next week so I am just going to get it done. Thanks for the pictures. Harlan

I see most trailer backwards, what do you do with the turtle deck hole when traveling backwards? Looks like it would pressure the cabin up catching wind.

I've trailered Kitfoxes and Avids over well over3000 miles and always wings to the front on open trailers. No problem with over pressurizing the cockpit that I've noticed. I would also suggest tying the doors closed or locked just in case. When going though heavy rain, a lot can get into the cockpit, but hopefully that isn't an issue if you watch the weather and time it right. I'm about to haul another Avid from Alabama to Mn in a couple of weeks (1500 miles) so will get another go at the process. Unless someone takes it off my hands in the meantime..... JImChuk

PS, I always tie the flaperons together just in case. The first Kitfox I got had a wing come loose and swing out and hit a sign on the side of the road. I sold it before I fixed it, and I don't know if it ever got finished. And to think a 3' long piece of rope could have made all the difference. It's also reassuring to look in the mirror and see the rope still in place....

Thanks Jim, I bet that was a bad feeling to look back at a loose wing behind you! You should post about your trip hauling the Avid, I think that would be very interesting. Harlan
