    Default G5 questions

Using a G5 as a backup instrument only to the G3X.
Does it require an external GPS antenna, or does the inbuilt one suffice.
Is there any alternatives to using their bespoke battery, or can I wire in the aircrafts spare back up battery.
    Thanks Lyndon

The internal GPS worked fine on the Kitfox I used to have. It would get a lock even in my metal sided barn during the build phase. Never an issue. I'd leave it as you can always add one later if necessary but it probably won't get to that.

If you already have a backup battery, the one on the unit is not needed. There are 2 power inputs on the connector for primary and optional alternate power.
