I'm using a single 10" Dynon display and plan to use a backup ASI/VSI/ALT instrument. I don't care about a backup AI since I can stay upright by looking out the window. The three options I'm considering are:

  • Radiant UMFI-22-GEN2 (cheapest, has customizable airspeed arcs, blocky screen graphics, push-button interface and no QNH knob, 3D-printed enclosure looks cheap)
  • MGL Blaze ASV-2 (mid-price, buttons+knob interface, digital presentation only so no at-a-glance cues via airspeed arcs)
  • Kanardia Indu Combo Indicator (most expensive, best looking, mimics analog round-dial ASI, twist-and-push knob, customized airspeed arcs)

I get the impression that Radiant instruments are aimed at the Part 103 market and I'm not thrilled with the MGL's data presentation, so I'm leaning heavily toward the Kanardia. I'll also have an iPad running an EFB app for navigation backup, VFR charts and as a 91.103 compliance tool.
