Garmin GTX 45R Software Upgrade Loading Issues

Trying to upload the new software upgrade into the 45R and there is no communication between the transponder and the computer. The computer just shows no connection. Anyone else having issues? Have checked my wiring (three times now) to be sure it's right and checked the COM1 is active on the computer. One step on the installation instructions say "When prompted, install the USB Garmin Aviation Device Driver" and I am never prompted. Have checked my driver listing on the computer and the Garmin driver is not there. Have asked Garmin assist three times about that and I never get an answer to that specific question which is disappointing since I have had great success using them in the past. They provide other suggestions to look for things but nothing addressing the missing driver. Any suggestions?

I can't remember the exact steps... but check the list of LRUs to see if the transponder is active. Then restart. What happens sometimes. When the system restarts after the software update is done, all the LRUs are automaticaly updated. however the transponder does not boot up quick enough ant the system shuts it off.

Poke around, I hope this helps. It happened on our first update.

Thanks for the response Ralph. Think you are referencing the software update process using the G3X SD card. This one uses Garmin 45R specific upload software using the USB cable that is wired directly into the 45R main connector. That's where the USB doesn't see the 45R when I look in the computer Device Manager and when I open the software, it indicates no 45R to be found. As an Oh By The Way, I did go back and try it after checking on the G3X to be sure the 45R had logged on the CANBUS (green check) just to be sure what you had seen didn't impact the direct input method.

Think I read somewhere that the update can be done via USB or Ethernet connection. I am going to see if I can find something more on the Ethernet process and give it a go. Frustrating when Garmin doesn't know exactly why things don't work on their own software and can't answer question like "Where's the USB driver?" I'll let you know if I find out more.
