Wiring Diagram software or app?

Is there any half-decent windows, apple or android programs (preferably free) to lay out wiring schematics for avionics?

I know Vertical Power has a free tool built into their website for people who wire with a VPX; this would solve part of the equation, but I wonder if there's something available that's a bit more comprehensive?

Good question. I've been searching for one as well. I know of several commercial electrical CAD packages, but they aren't budget friendly. I attended a Garmin forum on wiring methods at Airventure. The Garmin engineer I talked to suggested he had used Visio with some component libraries he had found online. That doesn't work for me being mostly a Mac user and not having that license either.

I think a schematic capture tool like KiCAD Eeschema might be adaptable for this (and free), but there's a learning curve for sure.

You can check out Fusion 360. There is an electrical design section in their program. They have a free limited version for home user/hobbiest. I down loaded it a few weeks ago, is both window and Mac compatible.

Next plane I build I am going buy components from steinair. Those guys are very knowledgeable and helpful. They sell things like the mini PCB board with the resistors solidered on that you need for rpm signal that make it very easy to attach to. They will also draw you wiring diagrams so you can see how everything connects. I think cost is fairly reasonable.

Any of the free 2D Cad programs will work fine for electrical schematics. If it doesn't already have the electrical component symbols built-in, it is relatively easy to draw your own symbols for resistors, grounds, batteries, diodes, capacitors, etc. and then copy them for repeated use.

That's what I did and there wasn't a big learning curve like some CAD programs have.

Here is my wiring diagram w G3X and VP. It has helped a few others.
I built it in Visio. Happy to send the VSD file if that's helpful.
