A few years ago Malcom Morrison gave a seminar at Airventure on painting fabric covered airplanes with acrylic enamel latex house paint. At the time he had planes that were painted with this method and had been done 10 years ago and were still in good shape. He recommended Glidden Gripper primer and Sherwin Williams paint because they were the best for UV protection, flexibility and adhesion. The primer and paint can be rolled on with a 4" sponge roller or thinned and sprayed on. The cost is almost an order magnitude cheaper then the polytone alternative and you can get it in high gloss in most colors. There are videos of this by Morrison and others on You Tube.

I had a bookmark for the Latex paint process that I recall was full of good information but the site appears to be down at the moment. Maybe it'll come back up?
