    Question Cruise RPM - 582

The plane and I both seem happier at about 5500 RPM raother rhan tHe book 6500 when just flying around sight seeing. I read somewhere than can cause some plug carbon issues, but not sure where I read it. Any comments or experiences?

When I was flying behind a 582, I usually was cruising at anywhere from 5000 to 5200 or so. Never had an issue with that rpm fouling plugs. Actually at full throttle, you would be running richer than at the lower rpm, as the rich mixture acts to cool the engine and keep it from burning up. Probably burn close to half the fuel at 5000 compared to 6500 as well
